On the last day of our reading program, May 23rd, we were still looking for a face painter for our School’s Out Party, which was happening in two days. Carly, one of our Read Around the Block students, is an artist and said she was interested. Cindy and I said she could practice on us because she had not done face painting before.
I received a Hello Kitty on one cheek and a sun shining on the other. Pretty Good! At nine years old, she is a great artist. When the reading program is over, it is always a bit chaotic, with parents picking up their students and ensuring everyone gets their stuff.
When everyone was gone, my brother and I were off to BooksaMillion and Hobby Lobby and planned to eat out. I bought many books at a discount for our book giveaway, then stopped at Taziki’s to eat and ended up at Hobby Lobby to peruse decor. As I walked in, I saw a display full of Hello Kitty and remembered that my face was still painted. I had meant to wash my face before embarking on our errands and dinner. I turned to my brother and asked, “Were you ever going to tell me that I still had Hello Kitty on my cheek?” He replied, ” No, I am sure people just thought you were cool.”
I agree, face painting is cool.
